Sewing Jobs & Careers in Southeast Ohio
No experience required. Bring steady hands and a good attitude, and we'll teach you a trade with a paycheck attached from day one.
Work that means something, close to home
Hocking Hills Garment Center is growing. Our current expansion, backed by a JobsOhio Small Business Grant, is creating 20 new jobs in Buchtel, and our goal is to keep training new sewists every year as the factory grows toward a 50-person team.
This isn't gig work and it isn't a warehouse. It's a skilled trade in a small factory where you'll know everyone's name, see the products you make leave the building, and learn from experienced garment professionals.
How hiring works here
- You don't need sewing experience. Our paid industrial sewing training program takes motivated beginners from zero to certified production sewist in a matter of weeks.
- Training is paid. You earn a wage while you learn, and certified sewists earn more when they join the production line.
- There's a credentialed path. Our apprenticeship partnership with Hocking College means your skills come with recognized credentials, not just experience.
Who thrives at HHGC
- People who like working with their hands and seeing finished results.
- Quilters, crafters, and home sewists ready to go professional.
- Career changers who want a trade, not a treadmill.
- Neighbors from Buchtel, Nelsonville, Athens, Glouster, Logan, and the surrounding hills.
What the work is like
We run one-piece-flow production, so you're not doing one numbing operation eight hours a day. Sewists build complete garments, rotate operations, learn new machines, and take personal ownership of quality. The factory floor is a repurposed historic church: high ceilings, natural light, and music on the line.
